Gardening Club wins prestigious award

Written by

Last night our Gardening Club won the Category G (Community/School Garden or Allotment) Award at the South Dublin County Council Community Endeavour Awards. We are honoured to receive this award and proud to represent our school at the awards ceremony. This is a very memorable day for us. Our Gardening Club is less than a year old and this is a wonderful achievement in such a short time. Thanks to South Dublin County Council for selecting us to receive this award. This is a very significant event and we will always cherish this special accolade.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our Principal Colette, who allowed us to use the strip of land at the side of the school. Colette has always supported us and believed in us. She was so enthusiastic and encouraged us to put in a proposal for this award. Thanks also to Peggie Masterson and the Board of Management for their ongoing support and appreciation; thanks to Gemma - our wonderful new Deputy Principal, who started us on the road to establishing our Gardening club! Thanks to all the staff who have been so appreciative and enthusiastic about our garden creation, and to Barry for building our raised beds and sand box. Thanks also to Tomislav from Croatia who made our beautiful bridge. Thanks to the PTA for sponsoring us over the past year – we couldn’t have done it without PTA funding. And above all thanks to all the hardworking members of our Gardening Club!  It certainly was a team effort and we couldn’t have done it with each and every one of you.

Our “Magical Fairy Village” is an ongoing project. We have lots of ideas and our prize money will go a long way in helping us to continue to expand and develop it.
