Wet Weather Breaks

We don't let the wet weather stop us from getting some physical activity during the school day. GoNoodle has lots of great guided dance and workout videos to keep us active when we can't go out to yard on rainy days.

Yard Monitors

4th class have been working hard as yard monitors in the junior yard at lunch times again this year. Every Monday 6 children are chosen as yard monitors and  each pair takes charge of one area of the junior yard; Hoops and Beanbags games, Penalty shootout and Skipping. The children go out to yard 5 minutes before the bell rings and set up their area ready for the junior and senior infants to play. The 4th class children then teach the infants how to take turns, line up at each station and play games together.

Soon the 3rd class will be taking over the yard monitor duties and 4th class will be passing on the teaching skills they have learned in the past year.

Active Travel Week

This week (October 2nd-6th 2017) is Active Travel Week in Esker ETNS. Each day the teachers will find out how many children in their class travel to and from school in an active way. Children can WALK, CYCLE OR SCOOT to school. The class that has the highest number of children travelling in an active way will WIN their class an EXTRA PE lesson.

The joint WINNERS of the active travel week were 6th class red and 6th class green. We hope you enjoyed your extra hour of PE!

Health and Wellbeing week was held here in Esker ETNS from September 18th-22nd. The aim of the week was to learn about ways of taking care of our physical, emotional and mental health. Tuesday's Theme was MOVE MORE and the focus of the day was all about physical activity. During the day the children took plenty of movement breaks using different types of exercise; GoNoodle dancing, Chair Yoga, and of course later in the day we had our 'Walk a Mile with a Smile'. It was great for the children to get active and try lots of different fun activities on the day.
