Ancient Egypt

We've been having so much fun learning about Ancient civilizations. One of our favourites to learn about was the people of Ancient Egypt, and in particular their mummification process! We made mummies of our own (luckily we didn't have to remove any brains from the noses of dead bodies!!!) using mod roc. It was very slimy and wet, but it was fun seeing our mummies coming to life! They were proudly displayed hanging from the ceiling outside our classroom for everyone to admire!

Mammoth measuring!

We decided to undertake the daunting task of measuring the length of the corridor in school. We predicted how many meters it would be and then set to work. Each child was given a meter measuring stick and we laid them out flat, side by side. There was 22 children measuring, so we knew that if each child had a meter stick, then when we were all laying ours down it would be 22 meters. We had to lay them out not once, not twice but THREE whole times, and even at that we had to measure a bit more. The corridor was 70 meters in total, a lot higher than we had predicted!! It was great fun measuring, do you think you could predict and measure from one side of your house to the other?

Heathers

We were so lucky to have the lovely Ellie and Louise from the band 'Heathers' come in and perform for us in school. Third class green were especially lucky as we had our own personal visit to the classroom by the girls, where we were able to ask them questions and get an autograph. We would like to wish the girls the best of luck in their music careers.

Delightful debating!

Third Class Green had a really exciting day last Wednesday holding a debate in our classroom. Our motion was 'Teaching is an easy job!'. The children worked really hard getting their points together for our debate, with everyone contributing really well. We split the class in two and chose our debaters who would speak for either the 'against' team or the 'for' team. We had an official chairperson, who kept order throughout the debate and our official time keeper made sure no one spoke over the allotted time. We had some super questions for our debaters from our audience, who listened to each side of the argument and eventually chose the winning team of our debate. On this occasion, the winning team were debating against the motion, with our audience deciding that is, in fact, hard!
